Emily U.'s Ministry Updates

Hi everyone! November is here! Here is an update on how things are going: Fall Camp 2018! Fall Camp happened earlier this month and it went so well. Fall Camp is an event where we spend 24 hours worshiping and learning about God, playing games, and deepening friendships. This event is usually when students start to feel more of a sense of community. They start to see more of the vision of what Christian community can look like. The second day of camp before we left, we took time to let students share about what God had been teaching them. So many students shared that we went overtime! It was so encouraging to hear the ways God had been working in their lives and how God had used the trip to touch their lives. Many students come in not knowing what it is like to be a part of genuine, Christ-centered community, so events like this are very special. It's like a little taste of heaven! I can hardly believe it. September is over already! The past two months in the apprenticeship have been a whirlwind. I am so beyond blessed that this is my job right now! Here is my core at UTA. Love these girls! This month, I held a public reading of scripture with a student leader. We met at a ministry house and read through all of Galatians together then discussed it. I've been learning a lot about how beneficial it is to read a book of the Bible all at once so being able to do that with students was great! There is something really special about getting together to read and discuss. You get things out of it that wouldn't by reading it on your own. This is Hannah! I get to lead core with her at DBU! Wow. August is already over! What an amazing and busy month it has been. God has been so so good and continued to show up and make things happen. First day of classes! It has been blowing my mind how different it is to read whole books of the bible at once. Usually I read them slowly over time. I highly recommend reading a book in one sitting. The theme of the book is more readily accessible this way and it can reveal things to you that reading the book in chunks just won't. The last two weeks this month I was on campus at UT Arlington meeting students and participating in Maverick Stampede along with our staff and student leaders. I have wanted to do the apprenticeship since my sophomore year in college so it's been a long time coming and I am so excited for what is to come. I officially moved to Arlington a week ago and have loved getting to know my sweet roommates. There are five of us total so there is always someone to hang out with at the house which I love. They have all been so good about inviting me into their lives which has made the move a whole lot easier. I am so thankful for them. The view from the ranch we stayed at for staff retreat.
